The CB1 is a 12 fret to the body design, to give the full sweet and balanced tone of the traditional parlour guitar, but with a deep cutaway and blended heel and rib and a contemporary twist in the design. The body size is around 000 dimensions, but being a 644mm scale has a positive string feel and clarity and sustain, while still keeping the intimate feel of the smaller instrument.
This particular instrument is appointed with matched, spalted beech inlays to soundhole, body and headstock, and the close cut heel and tapered rib fit at the cutaway allows great access to the top of the fretboard. The beautifully smooth, and sculpted Gotoh 510 tuners and the wonderfully natural and transparent Schertler Lydia pickup both fit the brief of the design of truth to form, function and materials.
This has been a great project to have been commissioned to work on, and has presented me with some challenges and many rewards.
